To all: it is sometimes the easiest solution! I took my engineer's script and ran it (once the user's desktop finally came up) so I could actually see it (we hide our scripts on logon). The person used xcopy incorrectly which left us with a prompt choosing <File> or <Directory>! The necessary switches were not put in place. Once this was addressed, logins returned to a speedy minute and less.

As to DNS, we can ultimately log into the system and are able to resolve internal and external names to IP addresses. -----Original Message----- From: David Strome [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, November 02, 2001 5:28 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Slow Login (Windows 2000) are you on Active Directory? can your clients see your DNS servers and use them? -----Original Message----- From: Hoxie, Glenn [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, November 02, 2001 2:29 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: Slow Login (Windows 2000) For apparently no reason, many of our users had to wait 15 to 20 minutes to log into the system today. The normal login time is certainly not more than 1 to 2 minutes. Our clients run Windows 2000 SP1 and servers run Windows 2000 SP2. The only significant change was that one of our software engineers placed "rem" before one of lines in our login script this morning. This problem appears to have effected many users, but not all users. It seems that I have seen past e-mails regarding this, but never saw an answer or explanation for this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
