It will only install from the Whistler Server Beta 2 Refresh. I
would assume that it would also work from new builds than that but they
aren't available unless you are in the beta program. The Whistler
Server Beta 2 Refresh is available through MSDN if you have a
subscription.

Perhaps it is I who is confused then. The only .NET beta that I have
received was way back in May. I have Technet Plus, so I do get all the
Beta's. The only one I see is Windows "Codename Whistler" Server Beta
2. Is there a newer Beta out?

You are using the RC packs.. It is the Beta pack that will work..

I don't doubt that they will work once released, but I know several
people that the Beta .NET admin pack will also not install. Myself
included. Have you tried installing it?

Some have claimed to have been able to install the .NET Beta adminpak,
but so far as I know, using Terminal Services would be the only thus far
supported method.

You can't install the 2k tools, it's not supported in XP.

Use terminal services.

Subject: Admin Tools and XP

I updated my workstation to Windows XP. I can't get my AD admin tools
to run. These are the things you get when you install AdminPak.MSI from
the Win2K Server CD.

I've uninstalled and tried to reinstall the tools. Trying to reinstall
gives a message that this stuff is not compatible with the current
version of Windows. If I go ahead and install it anyway, the apps fail
with a message that the snap-in failed to initialize.

Anybody else tried this? I called the XP tech support yesterday but the
technician kept confusing the AD tools with the local management tools.
He suggested I might have to wait until the server version of XP is
released. I can add most of the admin snap-ins except for the AD
specific stuff (Domains and Trusts, Users and Computers...)

Clues? Advice? Sympathy?
