Actually further to that ( w2k pro desktops connecting to nt4 domain). Can I create a local power user group in UM4D, assign global domain users to it? This is to get around putting domain users into the local power user group on each desktop.
any suggestions? -----Original Message----- From: Dean Cunningham [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, 10 October 2001 1:30 p.m. To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: "power user" vs. "USER" local group on w2k professional We are having to give them power user access due to a few corporate applications needing it (PowerDocs and Geomedia) Typically it is registry change access (portions of the registry) that these apps use and power user has that right) -----Original Message----- From: WebMeister [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, 10 October 2001 12:22 p.m. To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: "power user" vs. "USER" local group on w2k professional I had an experience today where I had to log in as the local Administrator AND put the user in the Power User group just to get the software to run when the use was logged on. I tried installing under my account which was a Domain Admin account which is by default part of the local Admins group but it still did not work. I then tried logging in as myself and the user as a Power User and it still did not work until I installed it as the local Admin + Power User. This does not answer your question completely but tells you what might happen if you try to install "non-MS compliant" software on a W2KPro machine in a W2K Domain and have users as a standard local user group from the domain user group. -----Original Message----- From: Sabo, Eric [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, October 09, 2001 5:58 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: "power user" vs. "USER" local group on w2k professional Does anyone have any information about this topic? I am trying to determine what is the difference between "power user" local group vs. "user" local group on an Windows 2000 professional. Technet article q217050 describes a little but I need more details then this article has. What is everyone on the list giving their end-users?
