Adam, //printserver/printername
That is the url for opening/adding a new printer. Also you can use http://printers/printers This is a GUI that details all the printers on that server and has tools, but if you just want to spam the company with new/updated printers use my first example. I just did this the other day and it worked great...a good printer naming convention is something to think about too. One thing to be aware of: this doesn't remove old printers from the users system. So when the user goes to print they could get info overload and now know which printers to use. Here are my questions: 1. Does anyone know what's involved in setting up these URL's? 2. If so, how? 3. After doing so, can you just create a page on your Intranet which says something like the following: Click to add any of the following printers: Programming Office Printer Administration Office Printer And have a user click on the link for the printer to Install? I would assume this would go through some sort of Internet Explorer security validation check before allowing a printer to be installed via URL. Anyone had any success at setting this up?
