Any possibility of duplicate MAC addresses? I know its not supposed to
happen, but duplicate MACs have happened here.

Subject: Norton Ghost scares off other connections

Hello, all.

When I use Ghost to set up a new workstation over the network from an
existing image, I find that two (and always the same two) workstations get
booted off the network. They lose their connections NOT when the box to be
ghosted makes its connection to the multicast server, but as soon as the
image transfer begins. The image transfer continues on its merry way. All
network settings for all production workstations are configured identically.
The really galling thing is that this happens about 80% of the time!

We have W2K servers and workstations all around, running in mixed mode. (I
got rid of NT4 servers a short while ago, but haven't yet made the switch to
native mode.) All production workstations are assigned IP addresses through
DHCP. I have experienced this problem when the box to be ghosted is either
assigned a dynamic or a static IP. Rebooting the affected workstations
solves the problem, but only when the image transfer is completed or
interrupted i.e. when the image transfer is explicitly not occurring. If
rebooted during image transfer, the workstations just don't grab a
connection.

Any thoughts, folks? The two boxes that get kicked off are mine and the
accounting manager's. This is a bad thing, especially around payday. :-)
