First I would recommend not running your printers off of the Domain controller if at all possible Spoolers are just to flaky. This is not so bad if it is a BDC and you don't have to many printers. I take it that the printers have IP addresses? I would set up the clients to just print directly to the printer this way they are handling their own spooling and Domain membership is not important. If you really need to have a print server you can use a workstation box. In your current setup you would want to make sure that the drivers on the 2000 server box are correct and compatible with the clients this is not as apparent as it would seem. Also setup the 2000 server box to print directly to the IP, don't share a share just out of cleanliness. I have an NT4 domain with several shared HP5Si printers running off the domain controller. Recently I added a network segment that doesn't participate in the domain (to limit traffic) with the exception of one 2000Server box (dual nic's). The other segment boxes are NT4. I need to be able to print to one of the shared printers from one of those non-domain member NT machines. TCP/IP and NetBeui are the protocols in use. I've created a printer on the 2000Server machine which maps to one of the domain shared printers and can print to it fine from there. If I share it on the 2000Server machine I can connect to it from the segment's NT boxes but when I try to print I get an error message on the 2000Server machine. Is this because I'm in effect sharing a share? Is there a way you can suggest to simply access these domain printers from a non-member box?
