Oops.. If that's the case.  Restore from the tape is the best way of
doing it.  Just make sure that you do another back up of it in the case
where your restore took out some of the file changes that was done
between your last back up and the screw up.  You are in luck if nobody
complains about missing files or changes...

I'm talking about the file server, I have folders that already defined
with users and groups and someone  mess around with it from the top and
propergated all the way down, and this is a bitch to do it manually.  I
was hoping that I can restore it

NTFS permissions are stored on disk, not in the registry.

Share permissions are at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\Shares
.
However, the share permissions are not human readable.  It may be more
useful to use Resource Kit utilities such as SrvCheck.exe and
RmtShare.exe.
