Generally you have to expand the partition using the raid manager or the OS

When replacing a drive in a RAID5 array with a larger drive you will only realize the capacity of the original drive. Here is a question I am pretty sure will not work, but wish to confirm. I have a DEC Server with the storage works RAID 5 array on a triple bus mylex (dec branded) controller. One of the drives needs replacing and it is currently a 4.3g drive. I can replace with the same for $100.00 or so and hot swap for data regeneration, but is there a way to instead get a 9g drive and hot swap into the array? Then, if/when the other 4.3g drives go, I can replace with the 9g to get more space when all 3 have finally been replaced?
