My colleges have done this and determined that 32kb block size works the
best. I haven't seen many reports of people reaching a lot more than 130mb
per minute. LTO and AIT 2-3 Claim some thing like 100Gbin only a couple of
hours" I don't remember exactly how fast but I could look it up". Is the
bottle neck the tech or the software. Anyone using Veritas Backup exec with
LTO or AIT??

TIA
Justin Elkins

If you are using Backup Exec Have you tried what the people in the Group
have done with increasing your Buffer and Block Size?

Everyone else seems to have had pretty positive experiences w/ this

Speaking of backup is anyone using Backup Express from Syncsort, and if so
what type of through put are you seeing and on what hardware. We are using
Veritas that I like a lot but we need more speed. We use DLT8000 robot
library and get about 120-130mb a minute. We have millions of little files
over about 200GB. It takes us about 30 hours to do a full backup. I guess it
wouldn't to just ask what you are using that is faster than mine, 30 hours
just won't do.

Thank you,
Justin Elkins
