I figured it out....

WARNING UNDOCUMENTED FEATURE

Yesterday I installed RIS onto a second Hard Drive on my DC which appears to
have been the culprit being that I uninstalled and everything is working
fine now. It is interesting that it only affected Windows XP machines.

WARNING UNDOCUMENTED FEATURE

Thanks for all who responded,

Joshua

What about file and print sharing? Do you have that turned on or did you
disable it? That's the second part of the resolution.

I had actually found this and looked at the reg key and DisableDFS was not
even there

I added it and set the correct value but that still had no change.

        For some reason I get errors when I boot my machine when it tries
to process the Default domain policy.
It seems to work fine from my Win 2000 Machine but My Machine (
windows XP)   get this error

Event ID 1058

Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO
CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=Childdoma
in,DC=Root-Domain,DC=net. The file must be present at the location
<\\Childdomain.Root-Domain.net\sysvol\Childdomain.Root-Domain.net\Policies\{
31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>. (The system cannot find the
file specified. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

I then get subsequent errors regarding the next policy that is applied

Please help,

This one has me stumped
