RDISK.Exe is for NT and does not exist in Windows 2000 anymore.

For all Windows 2000 products use the NTBackup.exe program (can be also
found in startup/accessories).

Preparing for recovery is a little more complex on Windows 2000 then on NT
4.0.

The NTBackup.exe program provides you with two special backup type for
system recovery:

1.  Emergency Repair Disk (ERD)
Unlike the ERD for NT 4.0, the Windows 2000 ERD does NOT contain any
registries. If you choose to create an ERD from backup you will notice that
it gives you an option to save the registry. Choosing this option DOES NOT
save the registry to diskette. On the contrary, it saves it to the
Systemroot\Repair\Regbak folder.

2. System State (found on the Backup Tab, check box near the bottom of the
directory tree)
The System State backup is new to Windows and it consist of the following
components:

Professional and Member Servers
-------------------------------
* Registry
* COM+ class registration database
* System startup/boot files

Active Directory Servers Only
-----------------------------
* SYSVOL Directory

Certificate Servers Only
------------------------
* Certificate Services database

System State is backup as a whole and restored as a whole (ie. you cannot
select individual components).

The right thing to do is to routinely do both, ERD and System State, backups
when changes occur.

Leonard Lee

Subject: NT Registry

Hello All,
I need to make some changes to my server registry. Can someone tell me how
you back up your registry.

I was always taught, try to stay away from the registry, so I am not that
familiar with it.

Thanks
