If you buy any PXE-compliant network card (not just 3com's) then you can expect a PXE boot ROM chip on the card, allowing you to boot directly from the NIC and not need a PXE boot floppy. The PXE boot floppy you create in RIS is ONLY for non-PXE compliant NIC's.

And thus bypassing the need for a PXE boot floppy. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Bill Kuhn - MCSE Sent: Thursday, May 02, 2002 10:43 AM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Network Card and PXE I use 3COM 3c905TX-M PXE enabled cards (the -M means MANAGED - that is the key) for my RIS installs. They work fine. Just plug one in, turn on the machine, and tell it to boot from the network when the card prompts you. -----Original Message----- From: Leonard Lee [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, April 30, 2002 2:34 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: Network Card and PXE I am just getting around to trying out Windows 2000 RIS in a test environment. As I am working thur the implementation, I find that none of my network cards are PXE capable and they are not listed in the RBFG.exe program....so, I will need to buy a card that is either PXE capable or on the list of supported cards in the RBFG.exe program. I have two questions: 1. What do you all recommand for a PXE enabled card to buy? 2. If I were to buy one of the supported cards on the RBFG.exe, which one should I buy?
