Hmm... that's not a very secure method, and it wouldn't work for users
that aren't local administrators of their workstations (which they
aren't by default, and probably shouldn't be in order to prevent
software piracy and help desk calls).

A better method would be to use Group Policy's Startup Scripts feature,
and make sure you properly secure the directory in which the script
resides. (Domain Computers would need read/execute access, but Domain
Users should not have permissions).

I use cryptpwd.exe, and put it in the login script. I am not sure where
to
download it off the top of my head. A Google search for cryptpwd.exe
should
work.

Hope this helps...

Subject: Security - Local Admin Account

For W2k pro machines authenticating into a 2k domain is there a way for
the
machine (local) Administrator account password to periodically be
changed on
all machines by some sort of login script or tool? I have found a way to
crack this password, now I would like to change this at least every
couple
of days on all my machines.

Is this a good idea? What are your thoughts?

TIA - Paul
