Configuration? OS, device drivers, Service Pack level, hot fixes, antivirus software, other "odd" utility software, even standard applications all need to be looked at.
What software/hardware has changed recently on the affected machines? Do users have local administrative rights on their workstations? Have you had a virus outbreak? Did you remove all the Dell crap that they install by default?
