Configuration? OS, device drivers, Service Pack level, hot fixes,
antivirus software, other "odd" utility software, even standard
applications all need to be looked at.

What software/hardware has changed recently on the affected machines? Do
users have local administrative rights on their workstations? Have you
had a virus outbreak? Did you remove all the Dell crap that they install
by default? How was the OS installed, by Dell, from MS CDs, or via disk
imaging tool?

What do you mean by configured?

registry should not be that large.
this machine was built up from scratch.

How are the machines configured?

Are they ghosted?

How large is the registry?

Just wanted to see if anyone else has gotten this error on a win2k
workstation with all the updates, patches, etc.

Stop: 0xc0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SYSTEM or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

I have gone to MS web site and their fixes don't work.
Just today the 3rd machine in my org had this happen and I would love to
figure out what is going on here.
We have dell machines here in case that matters.

Thanks,

Avi
