Well, if you plug in a USB keyboard and mouse in a server, it should work ;)
I read in a magazine there are already some Hybrid KVM switches that use USB for keyboard and mouse, but to do what you seem to want, you could just as well connect them directly to the servers when needed. I would like to get away from our current KVM solution and instead only plug in KVM when needed. The servers will boot OK without a keyboard or mouse attached, but I can not then put one in and have the OS recognize them. Does anyone have a solution for this? I would like to just have a cart that has KVM on it that I can attach only when needed. Since Terminal Services we very rarely actually need to log directly into the servers and the money spent on KVM seems a little much for the occasional access we require.
