Gig to the desktop or servers from the net would be awesome... Then my
backup of the internet would only take 8 hours, instead of the 3 days it
takes now [;-)

I also use the .local. Was just wondering how the rest of the world is
seeing the new TLD's. I assume once the TLD's are approved, the root
servers are set - the rest of the world will be set within a few days to a
week after.

The new TLD's do make it interesting. Also can see my existing clients in a
flurry to purchase the new TLD's in their existing .com name. Kind of
against the whole point of this I think....at least for the ones who want
the .biz & .info which appear to tie/relate closely to the .com in interest.
Once the .pro comes out, I see it all over again. Buy, buy, buy. Whoa - I
also see money, money and money to the registrars.

Now, if only some percentage of all this would go to infrastructure building
or to build a clone of the new internet, then we may see gig speeds to the
desktop which would allow all software purchases (even MS Office) to be
d/l'd to the desktop, true VC at the PC and so on. Dream a little.

You can use any root domain you want. If you want others on the Internet to
reach your domain (for an external emailor web server) the domain has to be
legitimate, but internally, anything goes.

The domain names used in a lot of the MS documentation and MOC classes for
example, is contoso.msft
