Use a MAC with appropriate permissions if you have one. -----Original Message----- From: David Florea [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, June 25, 2002 7:12 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Deleting illegal file names
Steve, I did use cacls.exe, it said something like, "successfully removed all blocking" - but that didn't change the result. I'll go back maybe tomorrow and find the other tool and give that one a shot. thanks... -----Original Message----- From: Steve Molkentin [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, June 25, 2002 3:59 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Deleting illegal file names David, Did you have any luck with the two tools from the Res Kit I told you about - they got me out of a similar pickle once or twice. It happens if/when you delete an account, and that user had set specific permissions for themselves and NO ONE ELSE to the folders. No SID is attached to the folders, so you have an awful time deleting them. The only way I solved it was with those two tools and a Q article (I just wish I could remember which one!). themolk. > -----Original Message----- > From: David Florea [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Wednesday, June 26, 2002 6:26 AM > To: NT 2000 Discussions > Subject: RE: Deleting illegal file names > > > No, permission is denied, as is my ability to take ownership. > I've managed to delete some directories by using the syntax > "del \\.\drive:\path\filename" (an old tip from the old > WinNT-L list), but on another directory there is an end > directory that has an unreachable permission and an unreachable owner. > > > ------ You are subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to %%email.unsub%% ------ You are subscribed as [email protected] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
