Sorry to drop in a little late. I've been away for a while. Your problem can be easily solved by a tool modacl from SuperCACLS = [trial version is downloadable at www.trustedsystems.com]. I believe the = synatax is MODACL /t <insert path to yor folder here> /s /ar = Everyone:full /priv. It works even if there are no permissions to a file = or folder or a No Access permission is set. Trial version is limited to = proccesing permissions on a specified folder and first ten files in it, = but I guess once you get access to a folder you'll be able to work = something out.
Saved my bacon a number of times. BTW [and a little OT] - How was your machine hacked? Script kiddies = trying to set up an ftp server? Probably will need rebuilt, but right now I'm trying to delete some directories that were dropped in, all illegal names (COM1, COM2, etc.) I've seen solutions for getting rid of those but can't remember them and can't find 'em in archives. Can someone remind me of how? Some of these directories I'm also unable to take ownership of...any suggestions on that gratefully accepted as well. Thanks.
