Existing users (but 1) can log onto a brand new station and everything is fine, new users and the 1 existing user log on to a brand new station and cannot add printers and the I.E. settings are gone. No policies running.

What happens if an existing user logs on for the first time to a brand new computer? Can they add printers and do they get the proper internet explorer settings? This will determine if the problem is client side related or server side related. At least we can narrow that part down. The only other thing I can think of is, is there any policy running on the existing users? -----Original Message----- From: Robert Saylors [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, July 16, 2002 1:14 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: 3rd try - New user settings I know this is not a Windows 2k issue, but you guys have help me before and know one of you wizards holds the answer.......... I have a Windows NT Server based network 1- PDC 1- BDC - the workstations are Windows NT 4.0 I have an issue that I was hoping for some help. When I add a new user to my domain, making sure they are in the correct groups - they are unable to add printers to any workstation they log in to. They get an error claiming they do not have sufficient rights to access this machine because a driver needs to be loaded locally. In addition we loaded I.E. 6.0 on all stations that contains a proxy server setting to our proxy server. When these new users login the settings are not there. All existing users can add printers and maintain settings (about 600 users), If I copy an existing user to a new user - they new user can not add printers or hold settings. I have 1 existing user that is experiencing this as well. Any help or suggestions would be welcome, I have to add 300 new users soon, and printing and Internet access would be useful;-).
