Query the server remotely using sc.exe from the resource kit and see if
there is a locked service being reported by Service Control Manager.
For Example:
sc \\servername querylock
[SC] QueryServiceLockStatus SUCCESS
IsLocked : TRUE - this should read FALSE
LockOwner : <ServiceName> If there is a service listed, disable
the service and reboot the DC
LockDuration : 999 (seconds since acquired)
Did anything new get installed on the server?
What happens if you attempt to pull up the eventlogs or Computer Management
from another server?
