Word 2000 can open the works files but I don't think it will with the
default installation. I have found that you have to 1) open word 2)
select File -> Open 3) select a .wps file (I think that's the word
extension). My experience has been that then (and only then) that word
will prompt for the Works CD and install the works import filter. If
the Works 2000 was installed by hand, you might have to re-install Works
with different features (or add/remove components if it will let you).

Now that Works 2000 does not come with its own word processor but
instead come with Word, Does anyone know of a converter? I have a user
who used the works word processor that came on her Win95 machine but now
she has got a WinXP with Works 2000 and it has Word. She doesn't want
to type them over. Thanks Edie Dudley MCSE
