Is there an auto logon setup on this computer that would cause the first part of your problem?
If you logon as the admin, then you can not connect to network resources because you are not authenticated. I would suggest logon as the admin and then do some diagnostics with your connection. Check your event logs. Do you have a duplicate WINS problem? Are you getting DHCP?
