If you're using the "Task Scheduler" service, look at the GUI in My
Computer. If you're using the "Schedule" service, everything is run under
the account that was used to start the service.

Subject: OT: NT4 Server - can't change log on account for a service

A customer has an NT 4 SP6a server that we are trying to schedule a backup
on.

The backup is a simple batch file that copies several directories onto a
DVD.

Problem is that we want this to run under a specific account, but the
schedule service is not letting him change from the system account to a
named account in the 'Log on as' dialog - the option to log on as a specific
account is greyed out (the radio button and the account field). You can't
change from the default system account option.

I haven't checked to see if all the services have the same problem, but my
assumption is they do.

Anyone seen such a thing?

I'd give better details except I'm not onsite with the machine yet. I will
be in a couple of hours.

I've doen some checking on MSDN and haven't seen anything helpful as of yet.
