I tried what you suggested  and everything worked fine.  How should I proceed?

telnet smtp server ip to port 25
once in type this
helo
mail from:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
rcpt to:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
mail from will be your email address
rcpt to will be an email address on the exchange server
then type
data
enter in your text and finish with a .
see if the message goes through.
