OK No Problem,
Are you OK with SECURITY=DOMAIN ? Users supply W2K/NT Passwords
And PASSWORD SERVER = "DC NAME" ? Validated from
And smbpasswd -J DOMAINNAME (creates a computer accout in the domain...)

I stand corrected
Thank you, I have learned something new.
After a little research I found the using the following entry in the
global settings of the smb.conf file you can accomplish this

------------------------------------------------------------------------
----; To allow cross sub-net browsing, samba registers it name with
specified WINS server wins server = winserver.domain.com [share01]
public = no path = /share writable = yes
------------------------------------------------------------------------
----

Thank you,

You can get the UNIX box running SAMBA to ANNOUNCE itself to the WINS
Server. It`s one of the Global Options. (It can also use multiple
NETBIOS Names... Ie SERVER1 , SERVER2 but the same physical machine..)

UNIX Servers need WINS record for legacy workstations to access them
if
they are running Samba or CIFS

As far as the owners as long as the record details are valid they
should
    be fine.

Are you having problems with these particular records and resolving
the
    names?
