Sounds quite large mine is: 10,493,952 wins.mdb P.S. Wins sucks, especially when static entries are involved. WINS is kind of like AIDS. (not that AIDS is funny by any means)
When you replicate your WINS database with another WINS server you replicate with every partner he has replicated with in the past 5 years or more and theirs. :-) -----Original Message----- From: Lum, David [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, February 06, 2003 3:07 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: More WINS fun After Rogers' and Ed's replies I requested specifically why some need static entries. I am told a product called Netlink which uses NetBIOS. No there are no problems with them, it just seems odd to have it referring to a non-existent owner. Am I chasing something similar to a REM statement insofar that it doesn't really matter? Our WINS database is huge and has never even been scavenged. When I asked why I was told "because we're afraid to". We have more than 500 entries showing tombstoned and the database is 25+MB, isn't that excessive?
