I have a situation that I can not seem to find a solution for. I have a wireless device from 3com. It is setup to give out DHCP IP and DNS settings for tablet PC's. However there is no configuration for it to give out a WINS Server IP address. This is where the problem comes in.
The network the tablets are trying to logon to is NT domain. Without a WINS server IP it will not recognize the domain obviously. The work around is to connect it to the LAN, which gets DHCP from 2K DHCP server and all applicable WINS and DNS settings, logon to the network and build a profile on the tablet pc. After this I can logon to the tablet pc from the wireless device via cached account. So I guess what I was wondering is if there is a way to setup a DNS record that points to the NT domain name. *****This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the addressee.
