Can I configure TCP/IP printing on the server (NT4) and use that instead of Jet Direct port ?

It's been a while since I used jet directs though.. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Tim John Sent: Wednesday, February 12, 2003 2:52 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Printing problems We'll give this a go - do I need to specify a port with the IP address ? -----Original Message----- From: Ryan Helton [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, 13 February 2003 9:32 a.m. To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Printing problems Can you connect to the jet directs via their telnet interface? If so you could reset them to factory default and then set them up again. This may or may not be your problem, but it's a place to start. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Tim John Sent: Wednesday, February 12, 2003 2:27 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: Printing problems Hi all, My System Admin took down our NT4 PDC this morning to remove a DAT drive. Although no issues were encountered during the reboot, we have lost the use of our printers across the network. We are using HP Jet Direct and the printers are shared from the server itself. They all appear in the 'Printers' applet, but we can't connect to any of them. If we try and delete the port, we get errors and if we create new ports, everything looks OK, but we still can't connect to the printer. We can ping the printers - which are statically addressed - so the issue isn't network related. What else could it be ? Any ideas ?
