No it isn't - I am not sure yet that the problem is a memory leak exactly.

No messages. Quite simply after a day or so, if an icon is clicked to load
an application, it doesn't do anything at all. The icon "blinks" and doesn't
load.

What made me consider the possibility of a memory problem is that just
before this happens, often it is possibly to load one instance of an
application, but no further apps. If the original app is then closed,
another app can then be opened  - so it appears to be a resource limitation.
Some of the affected machines have 1Gb RAM.
