Agreed. I sync my FSMO to a server in Calif and the rest of my LAN to the FSMO. Some of time server hosts request you send a notification e-mail when using their servers, others require it.
I believe notifying them puts you on a list of people to notify in case they change their configuration in a manner that would affect you. This is a guess, because the only e-mail I got in response was a "this was an automated confirmation, thank you for using our time server".
