Sounds like you have a DNS issue. If using DHCP check that this is
giving the correct DNS Server out. Also check to see if you can resolve
the domain by its DNS name.
The other thing you could look at is the size of the user profiles, if
these are large than that again could be the issue, however my money is
on DNS.

I recently took a job on the side managing a small network (about 50
computers)  The first thing I noticed there was the amount of time it
takes to log into the domain. (3 to 5 mins)  They have all brand new
equipment from the servers, pcs and even switches.  My first guess would
be some how the person that recently setup the domain controller screwed
it up.  Ive looked in TechNet for slow login and im going to keep
looking into the problem but has anyone seen a similar problem before?
