Hi Jean-Pierre, From the OpenJDK and NetBeans projects I'm used to have access to the test patterns. It works fine, as the patches are always reviewed by several developers before they get committed to the repository.
Supplement: Test patterns are also really helpful to understand the code, especially when code comments are missing, which is the case here.
