not very much... it just won't work :)

not really. On my two tetex installations, when I as the dvi driver for a 
pplr* font, it is the URW variant. It should be uplr* but it isn't. Don't 
konw where this comes from.

I don't know who made the psfonts.map /pdftex.map file.
