I guess you're right. What should I look for in the tex file to make them inactive?
An option is to postpone making them active in nath, i.e. hook them into \everydisplay or \everymath, but i don't dare to to touch that module -)
At the dante meeting i'll discuss it with mr. Oblomov himself
