In Luatex one can define font for math equations. So it is possible to have persian numerals in math formulas. But for Jalali calendar we have to write a macro (maybe Idris has done this). Font handling: currently luatex can not handle IranNastliq font but other fonts are ok. About

so maybe that font is broken?

The font is mentioned in the wiki page

  http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Arabic_fonts#Iran_Nastaliq

so it could be a regression in the latest luatex. I cannot
test myself because the font download link is broken...

Best wishes,
