Ok, I narrowed it down:

-------First minimal example-----------
\setupcolors[state=start]

\starttext

\setupbackground[background=color,backgroundcolor=lightgray,corner=round,frame=on,framecorner=round,framecolor=red,rulethickness=2pt,topoffset=0.25cm,bottomoffset=0.25cm,leftoffset=0.5cm,rightoffset=0.5cm,before={\blank[big]}]
\startbackground

\startitemize[packed]
\item First question
\item Second question
\item Third question
\stopitemize

\stopbackground

\stoptext
---------end of first minimal example

This works in mk II, but not in mk IV. It seems that start/stopbackground has been deprecated (?). And replaced with \definetextbackground ?

-------Second minimal example---------------------
\setupcolors[state=start]
\starttext

\setuptextbackground[background=color,backgroundcolor=lightgray,corner=round,frame=on,framecorner=round,framecolor=red,rulethickness=2pt,topoffset=0.25cm,bottomoffset=0.25cm,leftoffset=0.5cm,rightoffset=0.5cm,before={\blank[big]}]

\starttextbackground

\startitemize[packed]
\item First question
\item Second question
\item Third question
\stopitemize

\stoptextbackground

\stoptext
---------end of second minimal example-----------------------

This "works" in both mk II and mk IV, but compare the background with the one in the first example.

Help appreciated, thanks
Jörg

Could somebody please tell me why this minimal example works in mk II but not in mk IV -- and what I have to change?
Thanks very much, Jörg

---------minimal example--------------------------------
\definestartstop[Questions][before={\setupbackground[background=color,backgroundcolor=lightgray,corner=round,frame=on,framecorner=round,framecolor=red,rulethickness=2pt,topoffset=0.25cm,bottomoffset=0.25cm,leftoffset=0.5cm,rightoffset=0.5cm,before={\blank[big]}]\startbackground},after=\stopbackground]

\starttext

\startQuestions
\startitemize[packed]
\item First question
\item Second question
\item Third question
\stopitemize
\stopQuestions

\stoptext
------------end minimal example----------------------
