./install.sh and mtxrun without downloading the whole zip every time?
you don't, install.sh doesn't need updating (at least not often) ... and an update doesn't download a zip unless you have wiped everything and the bin dir is updated too ... all is pretty similar to first-install

(we just don't use rsync)
