Versions of ntop prior to ntop 2.0.99RC2 are unsupported.

With good reason - 2.1 will be a huge improvement. We're currently
finishing testing and hope to have 2.1 out soon.

Please retest with the RC2 version. Source is available at ntop.org, RedHat
rpms at SourceForge.

Subject: [Ntop] IP displaying and more

Hello,

I'm currently experimenting with ntop and found a few issues
on which I haven't seen any hints in the docs:

* In the hosts analysis as seen on the webpage the hosts
are referred to with names instead of IPs. It looks to me
like those names are the netbios names of those hosts, but
what I wonder is why some hosts don't get an entry in the IP
column? I tried the -n switch but that didn't change it.
So basically I get 3 cases:
  <IP>.. <IP>
  <Name>..<IP>
  <Name>..<Nothing>
And I liked to have all IPs appearing there. Any hints?

* The webserver has problems generating the page from times
to times. Unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce the error
consistently. What happens is that sometimes I start ntop the
webserver gives me these two "errors":
"Unable to generate the page requested [index:top]" and
"Unable to generate the page requested [index:inner]"

* Another strange issue with the web interface is that I
sometimes get this Mac aqua-like look (nice one btw :),
and at other times I get a mere text based menu on the left
hand side. I tried reproducing this and thought it was related
to running with -d or not.. but again this wasn't happening
  consistently enough.

* While monitoring the traffic of a ftp download ntop was
using up about 20% cpu thus slowing down the ftp. Is there
any way to speed this up? I tried using the -A switch as
described in man ntop and set it to level 0. But ntop still
used up as much cpu as before.

I'm using ntop-2.0 stable on a RedHat system (2.4 kernel).
Thanks for any hints or ideas,
