Use -v ... -b is for a generic sql host ... that's why one says SQL and the
other mySQL.

all questions stem from how the -j option affects ntop's operation with the
exception of the purge idle hosts option, sorry, ill start another thread if
that will make you happy.

im not running from the development tree, im running from what i presume to
be the stable build that was posted to sourceforge, version 2.1.3
specifically.

its both, at least in version 2.1.3 according to the man pages.
