Hello, I've been using ntop for a few weeks now on a Linux machine and
I'm wondering if any of you out there run ntop for extended periods of time,
or just for a few minutes to get a reasonable snapshot of activity. I found
that
I have to restart it about once an hour and have the stats start anew,
otherwise
the web port gets unreasonably slow.

Secondly, I messaged with Michael Montague and he sent me his winpcap 3.0
alpha2
changes with his advances to make winpcap function ok on multiprocessor
machines. He also mentioned the ntop maintainers are testing his code as
well, and so I'm wondering if there is an available alpha 4 release thats
multiprocessor friendly. I may test with just his compiled npf.sys driver,
since I don't have msvc and the driver code apparently requires more gcc asm
translations to compile with cygwin/mingw. Could someone summarize the
current status on winpcap+smp, and is there anyone from the ntop group
working on coming up with the gcc asm code? I would be interested in helping
out here but don't want to duplicate completed work.

I'm officially on the list now so hopefully you just received this message
once. ;)
I tried to send it a bunch of times. Thanks.
