this is not a real fork: it's just that the Winpcap people (I have no clue why) they don't want to support MP on Win32. They claim they have no PC for testing: I have offered one but they never reply. So I am maintaining a patch that Michael wrote on the Winpcap code.

I have used the MS VC++ 6 compiler for building the driver. In addition I'm not really a driver guy. What I can do when I go back home is to rebuild the part for alpha4.
Secondly, I messaged with Michael Montague and he sent me his winpcap 3.0
alpha2
changes with his advances to make winpcap function ok on multiprocessor
machines. He also mentioned the ntop maintainers are testing his code as
well, and so I'm wondering if there is an available alpha 4 release thats
multiprocessor friendly. I may test with just his compiled npf.sys driver,
since I don't have msvc and the driver code apparently requires more gcc asm
translations to compile with cygwin/mingw. Could someone summarize the
current status on winpcap+smp, and is there anyone from the ntop group
working on coming up with the gcc asm code? I would be interested in helping
out here but don't want to duplicate completed work.
I'm officially on the list now so hopefully you just received this message
once. ;)
I tried to send it a bunch of times. Thanks.
