I'm confused by what "interface merging" actually means. I've read the
man page and the FAQ. Is it simply merging all the data into common
graphs? Does this mean the rrd graphs I see are a combination of all
three of my interfaces? The reason for my confusion is that at my NTOP
page under Summary -> Traffic, I see "For device: 'eth0' (current
reporting device)". I would like to see this three times... once for
each of eth0, eth1, and eth2 since I'm gathering data on all three
interfaces. According to the man page, "-M --no-interface-merge Forces
ntop not to merge network interfaces together. This means that ntop will
collect statistics for each interface and will not merge data together."
However, in my ntop page, under Admin -> Switch NIC I see "Note that the
NetFlow and sFlow plugins - if enabled - force -M to be set (i.e. they
disable interface merging)." And I have both the NetFlow and sFlow
plugins enabled. This tells me my using a -M when starting NTOP is
irrelevant. However, under Summary -> Traffic, I still only see "For
device: 'eth0' (current reporting device)". Is it possible to have it
show this for all three of my interfaces? Am I just confused by exactly
what's merged and what's not?
Also, I thought I recalled from earlier versions of NTOP that if I used
Admin -> Switch NIC, once I was on another NIC, if I went back to a
previous one all the data was lost. Is this correct? Is it still an issue?
Thanks for the help...
