But you are mistaken re MRTG - it's actively maintained.

Both MRTG and rrdtool are written and maintained by Tobi Oetiker:

But unless you already know MRTG, why suffer through learning such an old
product?  I use NRG (http://nrg.hep.wisc.edu/) for SNMP graphing.  It uses
the uber efficient RRDtool.  I find it is just way easier to install and
maintain.
