If you're looking at a lot of hosts (a LOT is ... many hundreds or
thousands) might want to bump a couple of the switch max's: -x and -X.
I doubled mine:
( -x 16384 -X 65536) and it helped resolve some of my issues.

Um...

What OS? In the *nix world, we usually just run make install and
overlay the
executables.

Regardless, the .rrd data files shouldn't be affected.

Subject: [Ntop] Upgrade or reinstall

My Ntop server can't go much more than a month or so before I see
mutex
errors in the Netflow statistics and the collector stops functioning.
It has
just happened again and this time I plan to upgrade from the v3.2 build
that
I downloaded from the web to the latest CVS build in the hope that it
will
increase robustness.

Is there a way to perform an upgrade of Ntop (using source code) or am
I
better off to do a clean uninstall/reinstall. Assuming the later is
there a
way to preserve the RRD stored data for use one the upgrade is
completed?

Thanks
