Mike,

  --with-rrd-home=DIR Usually /usr/local/rrdtool-1.2.x

You can install rrd (e.g. from source) on your PC and do configure
--with-rrd-home=DIR to pass ntop the RRD directory.

Hello list

about this subject I face the same problem,
on debian I execute

apt-get -y install rrdtool

and this is what I got after the installation.

rrdtool: /usr/bin/rrdtool /usr/share/rrdtool /usr/share/man/man1/rrdtool.1.gz

?Is it possible to check if rrdtool is installed whitout force to have a /usr/local/? After the installation of rrdtool I don't see any subdirectory related to it under /usr/local/

Forcing to install rrdtool from source code when there is a package installation could lead to other problems to the rest of apps that were installed from packages and work fine at this moment, I think it will be a problem for every linux distribution because there is not warranty to find the resources installed on the same place in all of them.

Anyways, I'll wait for the replies to know if there is not choice to overpass it.
Thanks in advance for any answer
