Thanks for the quick response Mel. 
Yes I ran the command as root and I have tired to give the interfaces IP 
addresses.   I put the all three of the interfaces on the same 
network.   I was thinking that what my problem was.   I also noticed 
that just before ntop segfauted under Network Load Statistics the Last 
10 Min Throughput showed about 5 min of anomalias.
