Dear Parents & Guardians, Many of you are aware that we started this school year with very large class sizes, particularly in grades 9 & 10. This was unacceptable. As a result, the board has allowed me to hire additional teachers. This is great news for NT but the challenge is incorporating these new teachers into our existing staffing model with as little disruption as possible. The aim is to reduce overall class sizes providing more teacher-student contact time. In the last few days I have hired some excellent teachers that will offer a lot to students at NT inside the class and in our extra-curricular program.
Vice-Principal Laszlo is busy changing the school's master schedule so we may quickly reduce class sizes and incorporate these new teachers. As a result, your child may need a timetable change. This is unavoidable. I want to assure you that the Vice-Principals and Guidance Counselors will do their best to minimize disruption to our students. We expect that all changes will be effective Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Affected students will be notified first thing Tuesday morning and will receive support as they transition to their new schedule.
