March is Greek Heritage Month at the Toronto District School Board. It is an
occasion to recognize and celebrate the many achievements and contributions of
Greek Canadians to Canada and an occasion to mark and enjoy the history of
Greek culture.

The theme of this year's celebration is "Greek Heart & Soul: Philanthropia,
Philoxenia, Philotimo." These attributes of Hellenistic culture are recognized
around the world as profound qualities of Greeks. Throughout mythological,
ancient and modern history, Greek people have demonstrated their humanity and
love for humankind (philanthropia), their hospitality (philoxenia) and their
keen sense of honour (philotimo).

During the month of March, there are several events planned to celebrate the
rich heritage of Greeks in the form of songs, dances, special presentations and
cultural performances by students and community partners. The opening event
will take place on Saturday, March 4, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. the Greek
Community Centre of Toronto. The closing event will take place Saturday, March
25 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at East York CI.

Funeral information for Elizabeth Slean, former NT teacher (2013-2015)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beth on Saturday
February 24th, 2017. Beth; wife and love of Paul Trebuss's life, cherished
daughter of John and Margaret, and youngest sister to Meghan and Robbie; passed
away surrounded by family at home after a hard fought battle with cancer. A
lover of travel, reading, polka dots and her career as a teacher, Beth will be
truly missed by all who she came in contact with. Like all who are lost young,
Beth deserved many more years than she was given. In lieu of flowers please
donate to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research. A Celebration of
Beth's Life will be held in the Chapel at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre
(375 Mount Pleasant Road) on Saturday March 4th at 2:30pm. All friends, family,
students and coworkers who would like to show their love for this wonderful
young woman are welcome. For online condolences please visit www.etouch.ca.
