As a result of her first place finish, she was also awarded a $1000 entrance scholarship to the University of Ottawa. Congratulations to both Ajantha as well as the teachers involved in her success. More congratulations to Abigail Waldman who won first prize in a competition sponsored by Telus regarding media safety. She will be awarded $500 plus if her entry gets the most votes on-line, North Toronto could possibly win $3000! In next week's bulletin I will provide information so you can vote for her and help out NT! Stay tuned.... The badminton team finished in 1st Place in Regional Finals! Ten NT students will advance to City Finals on Wednesday, April 26. Kudos to the following athletes: Vanessa Kam (2nd place - girls singles) Daniel Zhang (2nd place - boys singles) Taikun Zhang/Oliver Wu (2nd place - boys doubles) Matthew Lui/William Gao (3rd place - boys doubles) Sammy Chien/Vanessa Lee (2nd place - girls double) Cara de Belle/Victor Lu (1st place - mixed doubles) Midnight Madness, the Graduating Class Art Show, held their "opening night" this past Wednesday. Kudos to all the student artists as well as Ms. Marquis, for an outstanding exhibit. The art is still on display in the NT Staff Room if you would like to visit. Please drop by the Main Office first. Thank you. Students from North Toronto will be hosting students and staff from Sioux Lookout as part of a cultural exchange. Our students spent an "amazing, life-altering, emotional" (direct quotes from participating students) week in Sioux Lookout and now students from that community will be seeing the sites of Toronto and experiencing life at NT. Recognition should go to the staff who have done an enormous amount of work to make this happen: Mr. Nicolet, Ms. Biondic and Ms. Wolfe. All students received a copy of their June timetable on orange paper. A revised copy on blue will be going out to Grade 11 and 12 students this week. Please check with your child to ensure they have received a copy. Exams start Monday, June 12. I feel privileged to be Acting Principal of North Toronto, as Mr. Mack recovers from surgery. It is a vibrant and positive school and I am constantly amazed by the talents of the students. If you are in the school, please drop by to introduce yourself and never hesitate to phone if you have any concerns.
