Upcoming Dates Tuesday, June 6: LATE START(10:00 a.m.) for Grades 10 - 12 MATH EQAO test for all Grade 9's. Grade 9 students should arrive at school by 8:20 a.m. and be in their assigned classroom by 8:30 a.m. The Math EQAO test will start promptly at 8:45 a.m. The test is 60 minutes in length. Friday, June 9: Farewell Assembly followed by distribution of the Pentagon (NT Yearbook) Lawn Party and Early Dismissal (more details to follow) Staff Meeting Monday, June 12: EXAMS START! Last Friday, individual exam schedules were distributed to all students during Home form. If your child was absent from school last Friday, please remind them to check in with their HF teacher (on Tuesday) to get their schedule. This individual exam schedule is an extra support for the overall exam schedule already distributed (on bright blue paper). Exams start soon! Please note that students are only excused from an exam by a medical note. As exams approach, student anxiety increases. Being anxious for exams is a normal reaction! Please reassure your child and encourage them to study hard but keep the overall importance of the exam in perspective. Thank you to the School Council from the NT Staff for the lovely Appreciation Breakfast you treated us to last Tuesday. Both the yummy food and the "thank you" were enjoyed. Farewell & thank you to the following "grads" from School Council: Anne Ferguson, Karl Reitmaier and Daniela Popovik . We appreciate your hardwork and support for North Toronto over the past years. Last week saw both the Athletic Banquet and the Music Banquet celebrate successes this year. Thank you to both the music and phys-ed departments for organizing these events. ATHLETIC UPDATE: The Spring Sports Season has finally come to an end! Congrats to these teams and coaches: Ultimate Teams Senior Team-City Finalists (South Regional Champions) and Junior Team-City Champions Girls Varsity Soccer Regional Champions! When other games were cancelled, these girls battled during torrential rainstorms, way to go ladies! Tennis (OFSAA) Caitin and Cassandra Chicora , the dynamic sister duo, place 5th at the Provincials for Girl Open Doubles. Track and Field (OFSAA) OFSAA track was finishing up this weekend. We will keep you posted about results. (Omission from last week’s update: A Shout Out to Emma Skipp, who qualified for OFSAA in Triple Jump and High Jump at the Cities last week) Ms. Pady received notification on Friday that the NT Symphony Orchestra won the recorded provincial competition for Orchestra with soloist! They performed (and recorded) Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole, movement 3 with Patricio Flores as the soloist!!!! This is very exciting for them as it is a hard competition to get promoted to and a harder one to win! Congratulations are due to Dana Aronowitz who is this year’s recipient of the UJA Federation Teen Philanthropy Award, in recognition of her outstanding philanthropic and volunteer endeavours.
